5 Surprising Tips for Tweets That Drive Engagement | Simply Measured

5 surprising tips for tweets that drive engagementLately I’ve been helping a number of clients with their social media strategies and tactics.  One question that continues to come up when discussing social media with small business clients is;  “Why use Twitter?”

When I show them some of the cool tools available for building an audience, automating tweets and monitoring and responding to engagement, they usually start to become more interested.

When I show them the results of these activities through things like website referrals from Twitter and leads and sales generated from those Twitter referrals, they usually ask; “When can we get started?”

I’ve been using Twitter since 2008 and I’m constantly finding new tools and learning new ways to use Twitter more effectively.  This article from Simply Measured (A great tool BTW) has shown me a couple of things that I’m confident will improve the results of Twitter marketing.

Whether you’re new to Twitter or a long time user, you’ll find some valuable advice in this post.

In our recent Twitter benchmark report, we analyzed over 23 million engagements (Retweets, @Replies, and favorites) from 117 million users interacting with 145,828 brand Tweets over the course of Q4 2014.

Photos, videos, and links averaged less than eight replies per post, but text-only posts averaged 14 replies each. Photos, videos, and links also averaged 52 retweets per post, while text-only Tweets averaged 86 retweets. Consider working more plain-text Tweets into your plan and test the results.
